PRE awards in the field of environmental protection

On June 18-20, the Congress of the European Federation of Refractory Material Producers PRE took place in Ljubljana. During the event, PRE awards were presented for the best solutions implemented in refractory material plants for the protection of the environment and climate. Among the awarded plants were two from Poland.

The first place was taken by the RHI Magnezita Marktredwitz plant for launching a hydrogen-fired furnace. The second place was awarded to ZM Ropczyce for a comprehensive implementation of environmental solutions, including a photovoltaic farm, an LNG (liquefied natural gas) station adapted for receiving biogas-based fuel, and trigeneration for electricity, heating, and cooling The third place was shared by Vesuvius Poland (Skawina) and Refratechnik Göttingen. The awarded solution from Vesuvius concerned high-temperature electric furnaces with a catalyst reducing emissions of volatile organic compounds and CO.
